What a fortnight…..

It was intense 15days with loads of action happening around focused towards holistic progress of Paryavaran Mitra.
It was an honour to have Smt Deepa Bajwa (Director General, Defence Estates) visiting our Suraksha Swachta Kendra and appreciating the holistic model of Paryavaran Mitra in collaboration with UNDP and Ahmedabad Cantonment Board. She shared deep interest in replicating this model across different Cantonment Boards in India.
Tomorrow being World Earth Day, we took this opportunity to organise an informative & fun filled fair for our rag-picking women, community members and our extended family members. We had put up stalls on journey of compost, the making of toys from waste paper, awareness around recycling nature of different wastes and the traditional method of filtration. These activity based engaging stalls were beautifully corroborated by soothing SPA session and finally Pani-puri stall. Our mentors from MS, our lovely volunteers, team from Teach for India & Yes Foundation and students from NID were there to encourage the whole team. The whole event was beautifully planned by Natashaben and Shyambhai, our volunteers from US.
Our volunteers also took part in waste pilgrimage experiencing the journey of our rag-picking women from close quarters by being with them for rag-picking early in the morning.
As March ends the financial year 2018-19, Paryavaran Mitra got itself Energy audited to technically understand our contribution towards Mother Earth. We are happy to share that our efforts saved over 1600 tons of CO2 from emission. We also shared letter of appreciation to different institutions who are partnering with us in this bigger vision.
So, the team is really happy to learn loads of new things & constantly pushing their limits for the benefit of everyone.
