Mother’s Day

I don’t have enough vocabulary to express the gratitude of having this gift of God.
The highlight of the fortnight was the Mother’s Day celebration at Suraksha centre where our sisters were the guest of honor for the evening. The sisters simply loved the evening playing games making them kids again. It was fun to see intense competition among them to win the prizes for winning the games. Thanks to Ankita di from Novotel, Ahmedabad and her team for offering the beautiful evening to our sisters.
We feel proud to share that the Paryavaran Mitra model at Suraksha Swachta Kendra will soon be replicated in other cantonment boards as well in collaboration with UNDP. Lt. Gen S K Saini visited us on 10th and was impressed by our inclusive model of waste management with women at its core. Thanks to Dhiraj Sir (CEO – Ahmedabad Cantonment Board) and UNDP for anchoring this journey.
This month worked out really well from team building perspective with two full time team members coming on board along with 3 interns from Yes Foundation to support us in different ways. We also had Gandhi fellows visiting us and understanding our model of WIN-WIN between women empowerment and waste management.
Last but not the least, it was pleasing to recap the journey of Paryavaran Mitra during the team meeting, remembering how we started with 4 people in 2014 and today we have 40+ team members across 4 centres. But still, a long way to go….
Thank you for all the love and support.
