The Conscious Leap….

Last fortnight witnessed the giant but conscious leap in our journey of bringing respect & dignity to rag-picking women. After 4-months of intense planning & preparation, it was gratifying to finally inaugurate our Integrated Waste Management facility ‘Suraksha’ in collaboration with UNDP & Ahmedabad Cantonment Board.
Event was blessed with the presence of our mentors, Manav Sadhna family members, officials of Ahmedabad Cantonment Board and professors from IRMA. It was immensely encouraging to also have Ms. Francine Pickup (Head – UNDP India) with her team visiting our whole eco-system. Her social media updates spoke volume about the energy she felt during her visit.

Now that the center has started, the complete envisioned model of bringing our sisters into mainstream resulting in dignification of the profession and ensuring that every step from collection to recycling happens in-house ensuring maximized returns for the sisters, will be complete by the end of this year.
It goes without saying that this wouldn’t have been possible without your constant love & support. Thank you…
