Each Saturday we hold an event called Saturday Special that gives us and our PM sisters an opportunity to relax and socialize for a few hours. Saturday Special is usually a blast, but last Saturday was made even better by the appearance of our volunteer architect Harshil who joined us to discuss plans for the new school that is going to be built there.
Before starting Saturday Special we went through the few rooms where the new school is going to be built and helped Harshil take measurements of the walls so that he can develop a plan for the school. It was inspiring to see how excited Harshil is to be undertaking this project. We believe this school will be an excellent addition to our community center as our PM sisters children, who are usually seen playing in the trash that is being sorted, will now instead be able to go to a school.
After taking measurements we joined the PM sisters and played an American school game called “Four-Corners”. There was definitely some confusion that took place in translating the rules of the game, but everyone had a good time none the less. After some rounds of Four-Corners we danced the Garba with the PMs, then enjoyed a tasty treat of ice-cream before eventually returning home.
