Suraksha (Protection) is the name of our upcoming center aiming at zero-waste management. As this center is in association with Ahmedabad Cantonment Board, by Suraksha we mean the protection our women provide to mother Earth and the protection the soldiers provide to our countrymen. The model will be 1st of its kind in India where the center will be by the women, of the women and for the women.
In this model, our sisters will be collecting segregated waste from door-to-door in societies in a dignified manner in proper uniform with identity cards. They no longer have to go early in the morning to collect waste from roadside.
Once collected, at center, we will be composting the organic waste, segregating and channelizing the dry waste for recycling. The remaining portion which is totally useless will be incinerated.
We will also be recycling the PET bottles in our own facility. So, the bigger vision of Paryavaran Mitra to have everything from waste collection to recycling in-house and owned completely by the women will get fulfilled.
The preparation are going on in full swing. More and more sisters are getting on board to accomplish this mission, all the necessary machines are being ordered, customized, repaired and what not. Renovation of the facility is almost done. We hope to soon start the operations.
