Festivity…
This being Diwali period, celebration was in the air.
At one end, we were humbled by Manali di’s gesture of celebrating her mother’s 75th b’day with our women group elderly single ladies at Manav Mitra center. She gifted one month of grocery to every women as a token of love for them.
On the other hand, it was good to witness fellows from Teach for India taking part in huge number for rag-picking experience which starts at 3:30am in the morning. They were accompanied by our volunteers from Manav Sadhna. Special gratitude to Amy for always encouraging our volunteers for this experience. It was a very deep and long lasting experience for most of them.
The highlight of the fortnight was the Diwali gifting event where we shared much awaited gifts to all the lovely souls whom we serve every single day. The event started with beautiful prayer and bhajan anchored by our mentors Viren bhai,Vandana didi and Viral bhai. It was simply overwhelming to witness excitement and curiosity on the faces these women. This year we gifted one month of grocery along with a big steel container to store it and sweets. We feel blessed that they appreciated this gesture with open heart. It was good to see Swetadi taking part in this event and treating our sisters with delicious snacks.
Amidst all this, we also got an opportunity to share about the journey of these women at Sharda University, Delhi.
All in all, the smiles on these faces are the sole purpose of this journey, which events like these ensure that we are on the right track.
