Good Exposure For Art Women At Sabarmati Festival

Sabarmati festival, a grand event to celebrate the lifestyle, culture and tradition of Ahmedabad was organized on 6th-10th Jan. Artists from different fields mesmerized the visitors with their skills and art work. Food stalls from famous local brands added flavor to the whole concept. We also got an opportunity to showcase the products prepared from waste materials, made by our slum dwelling women. Idea was to share the concept about how wastes can be creatively used for meaningful purposes. Estimated number of visitors was nearly 3lakhs which involved local people, high ranked govt. officials, big businessmen and corporate big shots. It was a good learning experience for the team interacting with this wide range of people. Moreover, the feedback received from the visitors will be very useful for the team as far as better designing is concerned. Live demonstration of the whole process and hands on activities for kids were the center of attraction.

We received a lot of requests for conducting training sessions by different organizations and individuals. The highlight of the event was the small interaction session with honorable chief minister of Gujarat Smt. Anandiben Patel, who inaugurated the event. Displaying products on 80ft. wall was far from our team capacity. But with god's grace we got support from our friends and volunteers who worked day and night to pull this off. I am thankful to Sabarmati Festival Foundation (Anar Patel ben and Malaybhai) for giving us this opportunity. Special thanks to Jignesh bhai, Ajay bhai,Gaurav bhai, Raju bhai, Priya ben, Charu ben and Diken bhai for standing by me throughout the event like a formidable support system.

Regards,

Ashish
